CNC designs By Antoh Decor Enterprises 3 min read
Key points
- Modern CNC gates use laser-cut star or geometric panels cut to fit the gate and pedestrian door frames.
- Two-tone finishes, such as a grey panel with a gold backing, are the current favourite.
- Use 14 gauge for gates; it is stiffer and dent-resistant.
- Send frame sizes and the pattern you like; Antoh Decor cuts to fit in Nairobi.
Drive through any new estate in Nairobi, Kiambu or Kitengela and you will see them: modern CNC gates with bold laser-cut patterns, often in grey and gold. A CNC panel turns an ordinary steel gate into the front of the house people remember.
Popular CNC gate designs
- Star patterns: repeating stars or tiles; bold and modern.
- Geometric: interlocking lines and hexagons; clean and architectural.
- Bamboo and leaves: softer, natural designs for garden homes.
- Floral and damask: a decorative choice for classic houses.
Matching the pedestrian door
The pedestrian door should use the same pattern, scaled to fit. Line up the pattern with the main gate so that, when everything is closed, the design reads as one surface. A CNC strip is a lighter alternative for the pedestrian door if budget is tight.
Two-tone finishes
The finished gate in our photos is grey with a gold backing sheet behind the cut-outs. Other combinations that work: black with copper, white with grey, dark bronze with gold. Powder coating both layers gives a sharp, durable finish.
Gauge and strength
Gates are pushed, knocked and exposed to sun and rain, so use 14 gauge (about 1.9 mm). Weld the panel into a strong frame with middle rails on big leaves. On sliding gates, remember the extra weight when choosing a gate motor.
How to measure for a cut-to-fit panel
- Build or measure the gate frame. Measure the inside of each opening (width × height), not the outside.
- Note how many openings there are and which way the pattern should run.
- Send the sizes and a photo of the pattern you like on WhatsApp.
- We confirm the layout and price, cut the panels, and you collect or we deliver.
Privacy and backing sheets
A CNC gate lets some light and view through the pattern. If you want full privacy, weld a plain backing sheet behind the panel, ideally in a contrasting colour so the pattern still shows. For partial privacy, choose a denser pattern or back only the lower half.
Sliding or swing?
CNC works on both. On swing gates, make sure the hinges are rated for the heavier leaf. On sliding gates, a backing sheet can double the weight of the infill, so check the wheels, roller guides and motor rating.
Common mistakes
- Measuring the outside of the frame instead of the inside of each opening.
- A pattern that does not line up between the gate leaves and the pedestrian door.
- Using 16 gauge on a large outdoor gate.
- Choosing a two-tone finish but powder coating everything one colour. Agree the colours of the panel and backing before finishing.

How much does a CNC gate cost in Kenya?
It depends on the gate size, the gauge, the pattern and the finish. Send your frame sizes on WhatsApp for a quote.
What gauge is best for a CNC gate?
14 gauge (about 1.9 mm), because it is stiffer and resists dents.
Can you cut a pattern to fit my existing gate?
Yes. Measure the inside of each opening and send the sizes; we cut the panels to fit.
What is the most popular CNC gate finish?
Two-tone powder coating, such as a grey panel with a gold backing.
